The on-board courier industry moves billions of dollars of cargo every year. Yet shippers and couriers still find each other through phone calls, WhatsApp groups, and agency markups. We're changing that.
On-board couriers (OBCs) are professionals — or willing travellers — who carry time-critical cargo as personal luggage on commercial flights. It's the fastest way to move something internationally when speed truly matters: pharmaceutical samples, automotive parts, aerospace components, legal documents.
The industry works, but the way buyers and sellers find each other is stuck in the 1990s. Shippers call agencies. Agencies have rosters of couriers. Agencies take 30–40% of the fee. Nobody has full visibility of pricing. Nobody knows if they're paying a fair rate.
"Shippers overpay. Couriers undercharge. Agencies capture the difference. OBCquote removes the agency from the equation and lets the market set the price."
Existing platforms in this space are agency-facing workflow tools, not marketplaces. They manage internal agency operations, not price discovery. OBCquote is building something fundamentally different: an open bid marketplace where shippers post jobs and couriers compete on price.
OBCquote is a facilitator — not a logistics operator. We don't employ couriers, hold cargo liability, or act as the shipper. We provide the infrastructure for buyers and sellers to connect, transact, and build trust.
The platform operates on a simple model: shippers post jobs describing their cargo, route, and deadline. Verified couriers bid competitively. Shippers accept the bid that works for them. Payment is held in escrow until delivery is confirmed, then released directly to the courier. OBCquote earns a 10% commission from the courier's payout — charged to couriers, not shippers.
This aligns incentives correctly. Shippers get price transparency and choice. Couriers get direct access to jobs at fair market rates. OBCquote wins when the marketplace clears successfully.
OBCquote is being built by a small team with backgrounds in aviation, logistics, and technology. Team profiles and bios will be published here closer to launch.
